Inkling (suite)

Pour faire suite au dernier post sur le blog de Nicolas voici l'explication du mot "inkling".

Le suffixe -ling en anglais est une sorte de diminutif, qui désigne par exemple le petit de quelque chose (un animal, une plante, etc.) donc Inkling pourrait être traduit par "petit de l'encre" ou encore "enfant de l'encre".. Vu que Nicloas dessine presque exclusivement à l'encre, ce choix lui semblait approprié. 
Ensuite il y a le mot "inkling" lui-même, qui, comme nous l'avons dit, signifie "soupçon", "petite idée". Nicolas réalise pas mal de croquis, qui sont en quelque sorte des "soupçons" de dessins.
Et enfin, c'est un petit clin d’œil a Tolkien, qui appartenait à un groupe littéraire nommé les "Inklings".

To follow upon the last post on the blog of Nicolas here the explanation of the word "inkling".

The english suffix -ling is a kind of diminutive, which thus indicates for example small something (an animal, a plant, etc). Inkling could be translated by “small ink” or “child of ink”. Considering Nicloas draws almost exclusively with ink, this choice seemed to him suitable. 

Then there is the word “inkling” itself, which, as we said, means “suspicion”, “small idea”. Nicolas badly does not carry out sketches, which are to some extent “suspicions” of drawings.

And finally, it is a small wink has Tolkien, which belonged to a literary group named the “Inklings”.
